Web Hosting and Domain: Key Considerations
CloudXon Team · 5 min read

A domain name and a hosting plan are often bought from the same place, which leads people to treat them as one decision — they're not. Your domain is your address on the internet; your hosting is where the actual site lives. You can (and sometimes should) buy them from different providers.
For your domain, prioritize a registrar with straightforward renewal pricing and easy DNS management — some registrars use a low first-year price to offset a much higher renewal rate, which is worth checking before you commit.
For hosting, match the plan to your actual traffic and technical needs rather than over-buying 'just in case.' A simple brochure site rarely needs the same hosting tier as an e-commerce store processing transactions around the clock.
